here in the west u.s., coyotl and badger have been hunting buddies for thousands of years. badger digs in ground squirrel hole and coyotl waits at the other end. usually they take turns. now the badgers are gone so coyotl hunts alone. send us some badgers. in fact, send some goodgers too

@cadetdaddy Yeah , As you say , difficult choices have to be made. i totally agree about farm animals contracting disease because of stressful /intensive stocking /low labour / (un naturally )high food inputs etc . Even if they dont get some disease, breeding cows, sows ewes etc are just burned out after a few years on this system and only live a fraction of their normal lifespan. How “efficient” is that? Hopefully the world will wake up in time and change its values and direction ,

  5. cadetdaddy says:

Agreed, I don’t like rats, but I love badgers lol. Yes,the badgers get tb because they are numerous, but they are numerous AND in contact with cattle which are really not meant to be raised in the numbers and conditions that humans keep (assigning value again sigh) them in. Really, its all become far too difficult for simple acceptance of animals doing what animals were just going to do.

  6. themightyscythe says:

@cadetdaddy OK , so how would you react if you found rats in your kitchen?

MY GUESS is that you would feel pretty much the same as i feel about badgers in my garden. No you don’t HATE them , but they just gotta go .
    ,

MAYBE they only get TB because the population is abnormally high ?

  7. cadetdaddy says:

Isn’t referring to their means of sustenance , likewise referring to the spread of bovine TB (admit it, they did not choose to contract and carry it), as “damaging” akin to labeling them as “bad”? When humans begin to place value on one species (sweet corn, cattle, etc), over another (badger, raven etc), i.e a perception of worth, it may be unintentional, but an association of good / bad is established. Just food for thought.

  8. themightyscythe says:

@cadetdaddy i do not subscribe to the idea that there are “good” animals like badgers and “bad” animals like rats . They all have much the same feelings . It’s just the human perception of them that varies from species to species . However, in UK all badgers natural enemies such as bears , wolverines no longer exist , so the badger population is abnormally high . The bit of damage they do to gardens is as nothing compared to the damage they do by spreading bovine TB

  9. cadetdaddy says:

Badgers rock, cut them some slack.

  10. airrune31 says:

yea i just hate wasting something when its right there.

  11. doubleg137 says:

I hope you’re not using any treated wood…
you don’t want that leaching into your soil and plants

  12. themightyscythe says:

You’re lucky you just got a few bears . here in England we got badgers. They ate all my sweet corn in a single night . They are a protected species even though they are as common as rats , If i shot one i would go to jail . Good vid though.
I’m like you, i try to build everything using stuff someone else has thrown away.

    Thank you!

  16. alexanderthatcher says:

Good to see… and good luck!

  17. cutlerylover says:

wow, thats crazy, the exact opposite…But it makes sense your way since the garbage men can just zip by and load the bags instead of having to mess with the cans, and plsu when people stuff the cans full with multiple bags it just makes everything harder, not to mention the cans blow around and end up in the street too…

  18. FabioCrow07770 says:

The Garbage people Wont take Our garbage if it’s in a can,We have To buy stickers for each bag, they’re pretty expensive to.

  19. cutlerylover says:

haha, I can imagine! Because of the bear, we (where I live) have to have lids on our garbage if you leave it out to be picked up otherwise you cna be fined, not that a lid will keep them out, lol, but its just a rule…But I live in a gated community and we have a garbage dump where we can just bring our garbage to instead of waiting for pick up day…

  20. FabioCrow07770 says:

Ya,I Had To chain our Garbage can to a tree =P. I Was sick of picking up the garbage

  21. cutlerylover says:

True, its funny, I have bear here where I live now, but I onyl see one once in a while, they walk around all the time, but usually at night…But when I lived in New Jersey we had much more of a bear problem because they were not affriad of people that much, and they loved to get into the garbages around my neighborhood…

  22. cutlerylover says:

haha, thanks man, its never to late to start a garden, even a small container garden works! It doesn’t have to be a big thing as you cna see here…

  23. FabioCrow07770 says:

Ya,We Have Bears That Come Up to our house and take our garbage cans down the back. They dont just come out at night,I seen bears cross the main road in the afternoon. That’s why I Carry a Gun lol. Never Know when One’s going to come out.

  24. Caseph says:

good luck jeff and congrats beating me in the survivalist race

  25. cutlerylover says:
